When an automaker has a new design language to show off, it usually hits the auto show gauntlet for reactions. And that's just what Volvo has been doing lately. With a next-generation XC90 right around the corner, they've been teasing us by way of stylized glimpses of what that car may look like through the Concept Coupe at Frankfurt, and now, the Concept XC Coupe, set for reveal in Detroit.
While all we have is a teaser at this point, it gives us just enough to reveal parallels between the two prototypes, and what we know about the 2015 XC90 (the reveal of which is still a ways off).
We'll start with the differences, first. Unlike the Concept Coupe, which had a sleek look, the lines of the design language of the XC Coupe is decidedly more rugged. With this iteration, Volvo has upped the ride height by a bit and added a hatchback roofline. There's any number of new Volvo models this could be applied to, but we'll have to wait and see.
What hasn't changed? The more pronounced front fascia, for one, along with the automaker's new T-shaped headlamps. There's also quite a bit in common with the rear fascia as well, in particular the tail lamp set up. This should be similar to what we see on the new XC90.
Want to get a closer look at this prototype tease? Luckily, Volvo has released a video, which is posted below. You can contact us right here at our dealership in Metairie, LA if you'd like more information on the XC90, or any other new or used Volvo model.
