It seems like Volvo has some very ambitious plans for the next generation of vehicles in its lineup. This fall, Volvo is planning on launching new high-powered 4-cylinder mills called Volvo Engine Architecture, it's in our opinion that this new technology can change the way we will forever at look at cars as a whole.
Initially, you may be thinking that this is a bold statement but Volvo has more details. To start, Volvo plans on only making 4-cyclinder engines and V8 engines, V6 engines may be a thing of the past. New engine technologies like a new fuel injection system named i-ART, will deliver high-end powerful performance to these new, smaller engines.
Still not sure how this will work?
"Each injector has a small computer on top, which monitors injection pressure," says Derek Crabb the VP of Powertrain Engineering at Volvo. "Using this information, the self-adapting i-ART system makes sure that the ideal amount of fuel is injected during each combustion cycle."1
We understand that this may sound a bit technical, so let us break it down for you: i-ART and Volvo Engine Architecture will increase engine performance, increase fuel economy along with reliability.
