This morning, we learned that Volvo's S90 premium sedan recently earned the "Production Car Design of the Year" for 2015. Presented by Car Design News at a ceremony in Geneva, the accolade is considered the pinnacle of automotive design awards.
The jury consisted of 18 top car designers from around the industry from companies like Bentley, McLaren, and Ferrari. The S90 was praised for its use of materials, strong proportions and elegant exterior design; and recognized for its "priority of clear, calm design over the ‘styling entertainment’ that has been plaguing the industry for too long”.
The stylish interior also recognized for its serene design elements, like elegant air blades and control surfaces.
“Our use of highend materials, classic proportions, and controlled surfacing reflects our intention to forge our own path, said Thomas Ingenlath, Senior Vice President, Design, at Volvo Car Group. "We don’t want to fit in, we want to stand out."
