In our Metairie, LA showroom, summer is well underway and the superb weather has driven more and more drivers into our dealership to take a peek at the latest the new Volvo lineup. It appears that dealerships all over the U.S. are also experiencing this trend as reported by the latest sales figures.
Last month, a total of 5,909 Volvo models were sold, making July 2013 the best July that the brand has seen in four years and reflects a 3.4 percent increase month-over-month. Some of the Volvo models that contributed to such successful July sales include the S60 which sold 2,326 units for a 20.3 percent increase year-over-year, and the XC90 with sales of 811 vehicles for a 4.9 percent increase.
Quarter 2 (April- June) for the Swedish automaker reported a higher operating income of 4.5 percent, and a 25 percent increase in sales over the first quarter (January-March). Profitability also saw gains due to increased capacity in the brand's facilities and a higher sales volume.
